The best and worst cities for singles

WASHINGTON (SBG) - Looking for love isn't easy and the cost of dating can add up depending on where you live.

The average cost of a date is approximately $102.32, according to Wallet Hub. Things to do, cost of living, things to do and places to eat can influence whether a city is best for singles. Opportunities for matches on popular dating apps and online dating websites also factor into a cities’ s "dating-friendliness."

Wallet Hub compared more than 180 cities from around the nation to determine which are best for singles.

The city that took the top spot as the best city for singles, Atlanta, Georgia. The worst city is Brownsville, Texas.

However, Detroit, Michigan has the highest share of singles at 73.77 percent according to the report, while Fremont California has the lowest with 37.71 percent.

If you are taking your date to dinner, Garden Grove California had the least costly restaurant-meal cost averaging at $12.78. The most expensive is Dover, Delaware costing approximately $120.00.

Port St. Lucie, Florida is best for taking your date to the movies. The average ticket price averages to $6.63. Atlanta has ranked as the most expensive costing moviegoers an average of 14.93.
